Who: The Maury Elementary Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Committee is sponsoring a workshop for parents on raising “I Can” Kids. The Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) http://pepparent.org/, based in Montgomery County, will lead the workshop. PEP is a nonprofit, educational organization established in 1982 that provides classes and educational resources to parents and all who care for children, toddlers through teens.
What: The workshop will focus on strategies to increase your child’s sense of feeling connected, capable, competent, and courageous. A child’s “I Can Quotient” is a useful measure that can replace the traditional IQ, according to psychotherapist Betty Lou Bettner. It includes the qualities that predict a child’s ability to thrive in life.
Where: Maury Library, 2nd floor of Maury Elementary: 1250 Constitution Ave. NE (entrance is on 13th Street NE; go up the stairs to the library)
RSVP (and any Questions): Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. Last minute arrivals okay too!

Building DC’s School Report Card: Community Survey
Help build DC’s school report card by completing the following survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/DCReportCardSurvey.
Your survey responses will help to build a school report card that will become a resource tool for parents and families as you make important decisions about your child’s education.
Throughout this school year, the Chancellor will share updates on the new strategic plan and ask for your help and feedback at monthly Chancellor Community Forums, held throughout the city. During these sessions, there will be a chance for parents and community members to engage directly with leaders designing the work to share your interests and ideas related to our initiatives. Please take a look at the dates and locations below for an opportunity to provide feedback and help inform the implementation of the district’s strategic priorities and initiatives.
